Terms & Conditions
Home / Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting! Before you begin your creative journey, please take a moment to read and understand the following terms and conditions. By participating in our studio activities, making a booking or attending an event, you agree to comply with these terms.
For the purposes of these terms:
‘our’, ‘us’ and ‘we’ refers to Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting.
‘you’ and ‘your’ refers to the painter and/or members of the painting party.
1. Reservations
1.1 Reservations are recommended to ensure availability, particularly during school holidays and on Saturdays. Walk-ins are very welcome, subject to availability.
1.2 Bookings may be made via our website, email, Facebook, telephone or in person.
1.3 All bookings should arrive on time.
1.4 We do not charge a studio fee.
2. Studio Usage
2.1 Proper studio etiquette is expected. We reserve the right to ask individuals to leave the premises if they are behaving inappropriately or causing a disturbance to others.
2.2 We do not enforce timed painting sessions. However, during busy periods we reserve the right to advise you that your table will be required by a certain time and/or move you to another available table.
3. Paint and Glaze
3.1 Only paints and glazes provided by the studio may be used on pottery. Outside paints, glazes or other decorating materials are prohibited. You are welcome to bring your own brushes.
4. Artwork and Personalisation
4.1 You are responsible for your own creations and any personalisation of items unless you have specifically requested us to personalise or decorate your piece.
4.2 Where you have paid us to decorate, personalise or complete artwork on pottery, please be aware that each piece is handmade. Slight variations may occur due to the nature of the work and individual decorating styles of our staff. Your finished item may therefore not be an exact replica of examples displayed in our studio or on our website.
4.3 If work carried out by us is considered substandard or does not meet reasonable expectations, we will take appropriate steps to rectify the issue.
5. Finished Pottery and Firing
5.1 Pottery items will be glazed and fired in our kiln at temperatures exceeding 1,000°C to produce their finished appearance.
5.2 Colours can change considerably during firing and may appear different from how they looked when originally painted.
5.3 Pottery and kiln firing are inherently unpredictable processes. Glaze spotting, pinholes, crazing, crawling, shivering, firing cracks, kiln dust, brick dust and other small marks or imperfections can occasionally occur during firing.
5.4 Although we follow procedures designed to minimise these issues, it is not always possible to prevent them.
5.5 Where we believe it is safe and appropriate to do so, we may re-fire an item in an attempt to correct a glazing or firing issue. Re-firing does carry its own risks and will not always resolve the problem.
6. Items Broken or Damaged by You
6.1 Pottery accidentally broken, damaged or cracked by you or a member of your party during your session must be paid for at its retail value.
6.2 Payment for breakages is due at the end of your session.
7. Items Broken or Damaged During Firing
7.1 Unfortunately, accidents and breakages can occasionally occur when pottery is being glazed and fired.
7.2 In the exceptional event that your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln, we will normally offer compensation by way of a free repaint or a voucher to the value of the affected pottery item.
7.3 A voucher may be used to repaint the same item, choose another item up to the same value, or contribute towards a higher-value item.
7.4 Vouchers issued in these circumstances will be valid for three months from the date of issue.
8. Payments
8.1 Payment for studio sessions, pottery, products and services must be made in full at the point of sale or on the day of your visit.
8.2 We accept cash and most major debit and credit cards.
8.3 Full payment is required in advance for custom orders and commissions.
9. Quality Issues
9.1 Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting is committed to providing a positive experience. However, pottery is a handmade product and occasionally things may not go as planned.
9.2 Pottery Painting
The nature of clay, glaze and kiln firing means that defects and imperfections can occur throughout the pottery industry.
While we have procedures in place to minimise these issues, some circumstances are beyond our control. Issues can also be caused or contributed to by the painting process, including applying excessive coats of paint, touching pottery with greasy or dirty fingers or using wet wipes on the pottery.
Possible issues include, but are not limited to:
firing cracks;
glaze spotting;
pinholes;
shivering;
crawling;
kiln or brick dust;
crazing; and
other minor glaze or firing imperfections.
Crazing can appear immediately after firing or may develop days, weeks or even months later.
Some problems may be improved through re-firing, although this is not always possible and re-firing can sometimes cause further changes to the piece.
9.3 Prints and Pottery Decorated by Us
Due to the handmade nature of our work, there is always a possibility of human error. Our staff take great care when decorating and personalising pottery, but occasional mistakes can occur.
9.4 Imprints, Outprints and 3D Casts
Several factors can affect the outcome of imprints, outprints and 3D casts due to the nature of the materials and processes involved. While we take every reasonable precaution, some issues are beyond our control.
In rare circumstances, we may ask you to return to the studio so that the process can be repeated.
10. Remedies
10.1 Depending on the nature of the issue, we may attempt to re-fire the pottery, offer you the opportunity to redo or repaint the piece, provide a voucher or agree another appropriate solution.
10.2 Where these options are not appropriate, we may offer a partial refund depending on the cause and extent of the issue.
10.3 We do not normally provide full refunds for imperfections or issues arising from the unpredictable nature of pottery, glazing or kiln firing.
10.4 A full refund will not normally be available where you choose to retain the affected item.
11. Refunds
11.1 Where a refund has been agreed, it will normally be returned using the original payment method.
11.2 Card payments made in the studio: Refunds must be returned to the same card used for payment. The cardholder may therefore need to attend the studio.
11.3 Online payments: Online refunds will be processed electronically and may take approximately 5–10 working days to appear.
11.4 Cash payments: Cash payments will normally be refunded in cash where sufficient funds are available. Where this is not possible, we may arrange a bank transfer.
12. Collection of Finished Items
12.1 Pottery Painting: Painted pottery will normally be ready for collection approximately seven days after your painting session.
12.2 Prints and Pottery Decorated by Us: We aim to have these items ready within approximately 14 days. During particularly busy periods this may take longer.
12.3 Imprints, Outprints and 3D Casts: These items can take approximately four to five weeks as adequate drying and processing time is required.
12.4 During peak periods, including Father’s Day and the lead-up to Christmas, processing times may be extended.
12.5 We recommend booking with sufficient notice if your item is required for a specific date.
12.6 It is your responsibility to arrange collection during our normal opening hours.
12.7 Finished items will be retained for one month from the date they are ready for collection.
12.8 If you know that you will be unable to collect your pottery within this period, please contact us as soon as possible in person, by telephone, Messenger or email so that alternative arrangements can be agreed.
12.9 Items not collected within the one-month period, where no alternative arrangement has been agreed, may be considered abandoned and may be disposed of or donated at our discretion.
12.10 If you attempt to collect an item after this period and it is no longer available, no reimbursement, replacement or compensation will be due.
13. Delivery of Finished Pottery
13.1 Painted pottery may be delivered by post on request.
13.2 We aim to be as sustainable as possible and may reuse suitable packaging received with our stock.
13.3 We take reasonable care when packaging pottery to protect it during transit. However, once an item has left our studio, damage, loss or delays caused during delivery are outside our direct control.
13.4 Pottery cannot generally be insured against breakage in transit and we cannot accept responsibility for damage occurring once the item has been handed to the postal or courier service.
13.5 Dispatch times will depend on how busy the studio is. During peak periods there may be a delay before your item is dispatched.
13.6 Choosing delivery rather than collection may therefore increase the time it takes for you to receive your pottery.
13.7 Postage and packaging costs will be added to your bill and must be paid before your item is dispatched. Charges will depend on the size and weight of the parcel.
13.8 Where postage is purchased in advance, we will estimate the required parcel size. If additional packaging or a larger box is subsequently required to protect the item adequately, we may request payment of the difference before dispatch.
13.9 We cannot guarantee delivery times once an item has been handed to the postal or courier service.
13.10 Delays caused by the postal or courier service are beyond our control.
13.11 By choosing delivery, you acknowledge and accept the additional risks associated with sending pottery through the post.
14. Deposits
14.1 Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable unless Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting cancels the booking.
14.2 Where you attend your booking as agreed, the deposit will be deducted from the final amount payable.
14.3 If you fail to attend a confirmed booking, the deposit will be retained to contribute towards the loss caused by the reserved table or event space being unavailable to other customers.
14.4 A deposit of £30 is required when booking a children’s party, adult party or adult event for seven or more guests.
14.5 A deposit of £80 is required for an event taking place outside our normal working hours.
14.6 Where deposits are taken from individual painters for a specific event, including themed events, any deposit paid by a person who does not attend will be non-refundable and non-transferable.
15. Party and Large Group Bookings
15.1 There is a minimum spend of £16 per person for party bookings.
15.2 Every person attending as part of a party is expected to paint unless this has been agreed with us in advance.
15.3 When making a large group or party booking, please provide the most accurate number of attendees possible as we reserve studio capacity based on the number booked.
15.4 If the number attending is lower than the number originally booked and we receive less than 14 days’ notice, we reserve the right to charge £16 for each person who does not attend.
15.5 This charge reflects the studio capacity allocated to your booking which, particularly during busy periods, may have prevented us from accepting other bookings.
16. Customer Cancellations and Changes
16.1 If you need to cancel a booking, please contact us as soon as possible.
16.2 Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable if you cancel or fail to attend your booking.
16.3 Requests to change the date, time or number of attendees for a booking are subject to availability and are at our discretion.
16.4 For reductions in party or large-group numbers, the provisions in section 15 apply.
17. Cancellation or Changes by Us
17.1 Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any event or booking at short notice where reasonably necessary.
17.2 Reasons may include, but are not limited to:
staff illness;

problems affecting the studio or premises;
health and safety concerns; or
other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
17.3 We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected customers as quickly as possible.
17.4 Where we cancel an event or booking, you will be offered either an alternative date or a refund of the deposit or booking payment made to us, as appropriate.

22.4 Where identifiable people are included, we will normally make customers aware that photographs or videos are being taken.
22.5 Where children are clearly identifiable, we will specifically seek permission from their parent or guardian.
22.6 If you do not wish to be photographed, filmed or have photographs of your finished pottery used for promotional purposes, please inform a member of staff.
22.7 Tink & Brellie Pottery Painting is committed to processing personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.
22.8 You may request access to personal information we hold about you and request that inaccurate information is corrected or information that is no longer required is deleted, subject to our legal obligations.
